I have been an attorney for over 25 years, specializing in international family law and immigration law, a field in which personal stories and legal complexities often intersect. I guide my clients through what can sometimes be a difficult time in their lives. I clearly explain the options available to them and guide them through proceedings at both the IND and in court.
In doing so, I always strive for a solution through consultation – via mediation if possible – but I do not shy away from legal proceedings when necessary.
My clients are often expats or Dutch nationals with a foreign partner who have legal issues relating to immigration and family law. These include divorce with international aspects, international custody issues, or situations in which a divorce affects the possible loss of a residence permit.
In December 2013, I founded Franssen Advocaten, a niche law firm with extensive expertise in family and immigration law.
I am a member of the vFAS (Association of Family Lawyers and Divorce Mediators), which means I am also trained as a divorce mediator. In 2021, I completed a postgraduate specialization in international family law. This program has given me a thorough understanding of the international rules and procedures that apply to cross-border family matters.
I am also a member of the Association of Migration Law Solicitors (SVMA).
Clarity, expertise and commitment are central to my work. I provide a realistic assessment of the case and prevent clients from incurring unnecessary costs. With an extensive network of professionals, I can refer clients to the right specialists, such as a tax advisor or notary.
My goal is always to work together to find a sustainable, balanced solution, taking both the legal and human aspects of the situation into account.
