Martha Ande is an attorney at Franssen Advocaten, specializing in (international) family law and immigration law. She regularly assists expats in family law matters with a cross-border element, such as international divorces and residence-related issues following the end of a relationship.

Martha studied Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where she graduated in international family law with a grade of 8. During her studies, she also developed a strong interest in immigration law. As part of her academic program, she studied international law at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa. She also researched marriage and divorce law in Eritrea for several months, focusing on its application within Dutch private international law.

Martha is known for her empathetic and attentive approach, combined with a decisive and pragmatic working style. During an initial consultation, she carefully identifies her clients’ interests and objectives. Whenever possible, she strives to achieve a constructive solution through consultation with the other party. At the same time, clients can rely on her to represent their interests with dedication and determination. When legal proceedings becomes necessary, she is fully committed to achieving the best possible outcome.

Within family law, Martha advises and litigates on matters including divorce, legal parentage, parental authority, child and spousal maintenance, and the division of marital property. In addition, she has extensive experience with immigration applications, including residence permits under the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty (DAFT), permanent residence permits, family migration and Chavez-Vilchez applications.

Martha speaks fluent Dutch, English and Tigrinya.
