In our practice, we often deal with parents who want to move back to their country of origin with their children after their divorce, and aren’t sure whether they need the other parent’s consent to move abroad with their child. We advise parents to make specific arrangements in the parenting plan, particularly in cases involving an international family. Without the consent of the other parent (parental authority,) it is very risky and therefore highly inadvisable to move with a minor child.
